Required Hardware & Software Configurations
Graphics Boards and OpenGL Acceleration
Any graphics board that has a driver for Windows NT 4.0 should run with
MSC.Patran. MSC recommends using a native OpenGL graphics card.
MSC has tested the following Standard and OpenGL graphics adapters to verify
compatibility with MSC.Patran on Windows NT.

• Diamond Viper 770
• Evans & Sutherland AccelEclipse, AccelGalaxy
• ELSA GLoriaL/MX, GLoriaXL, Gloria II/II Pro, Synergy Force
• FGL Fire GL1, Fire GL2, Fire GL3, Fire GL 4000,
• Hewlett-Packard FX2+, FX4+, FX5+, FX6+, FX10+
• IntergraphIntense3D,Intense3DPro,Intense3DProII,RealiZM,RealiZMII,
Wildcat 4000, Wildcat 4110
• NVidia GeForce 256, GeForce 2 GTS, Quadro 2 Pro
Note thatOpenGL (Hardware)mode requiresmore colors,andtypically causescolor
flashing on 256 color displays. Use 32K color or higher mode to avoid color flashing.

TCP/IP Requirements
You must have the Microsoft TCP/IP networking facility installed on Windows NT.
MSC.Patranalso requiresanethernetcard,eveniftheworkstation isnot connectedto
a network. FLEXlm uses the ethernet card to create a system ID. For additional
information see TCP/IP Setup (p. 68)
NFS Mounted Database on Windows NT
MSC.Patran on Windows NT has been tested using an NT-based NFS package. A
database is mounted from a SUN workstation to an NT workstation. No testing is
done using NT workstations as NFS servers to UNIX-based workstations.
