Using the mscsetup Utility
YoucanperformmostofMSC.Patraninstallationstepsusingthemscsetup utility. The
mscsetup utility creates a log file,
mscsetup.log, that contains all messages, prompts,
and user input. The
mscsetup utility also creates a playback file, mscsetup.pbk,that
you can use to create identical installations on other systems.
Table 3-1 lists useful command line arguments available with the mscsetup utility.
Table 3-1 mscsetup Command Line Arguments
Command Line Arguments Purpose
mscsetup <playback.pbk> Runs playback file in install-only mode. Useful to
repeat identical installations.
mscsetup amendment Generates a contract amendment form.
mscsetup flexlm <license_file> Installs a new FLEXlm license file into the
flexlm/licenses directory. Also checks the file for
correct checksum, SERVER line, and invalid
characters.
mscsetup flexlmcheck <license_file> Tests FLEXlm licensing. The default is the current
MSC_LICENSE_FILE setting. See Installing
FLEXlm (App. A) for additional information.
mscsetup help Prints information on command line arguments.
mscsetup id Displays the MSCID System id used to generate
licenses. See Installing FLEXlm (App. A) for
additional information.
mscsetup mscinfo Executes the mscinfo utility. See The mscinfo
Utility (p. 6) for additional information.
mscsetup -b <installation_dir> Sets the default installation directory.
mscsetup -l <log_file> Writes the installation log to <log_file>. The default
is mscsetup.log.
mscsetup -m <media>:<path> Specifies default installation media and path, for
example “
cd:/CDROM”
mscsetup -n Turns off screen handling for text-only scrolling
mode.
mscsetup -p <playback_file> Writes the playback file to the filename spec
<playback_file>. The default is mscsetup.pbk.
mscsetup -r <user@node> Sets the user and node for remote installation.
