Problem 6:
WinNT
Cannot find services file
When I start up MSC.Patran, I get the error:
Cannot find services file
Resolution6:
TCP/IP protocol is not installed properly. MSC.Patran licensing requires the
TCP/IP Protocol and a properly installed Network Interface Card (NIC) on
Windows NT and Windows 2000. You can check this with the following steps:
1. NT: Open Control Panel\Network\Protocols and check that the
“TCP/IP Protocol” is installed.
2000: Open Control Panel\Network and Dial-up Connections\ Local
Area Connection and check that the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” is
installed.
2. Open a DOS Command Prompt, and type ipconfig. If this returns a
valid ip address, try ping hostname or ping ip-address. If this
does not return a valid ip-address or if the ping gives an error, you will
need to configure your TCP/IP properties.
Problem 7:
WinNT
Unable to open connection using current transport mechanism
When I start up MSC.Patran, I get the error:
Unable to open connection using current transport
mechanism
or
Cannot open Connect Stream
Resolution7:
TCP/IP protocol is not installed properly. See Resolution #6 on page 118 for
more information on TCP/IP requirements for Windows NT.
Problem 8:
HP-UX
Unresolved symbol: _StaticCtor...
When I attempt to start up MSC.Patran with the patran command, I see
messages such as the following:
/usr/lib/dld.sl: Unresolved symbol: _StaticCtorTable_Start(data)
etc...
Resolution8:
You are missing one of the required HP-UX patches. See Hewlett-Packard HP-
UX Requirements (p. 10) for additional information.
