5. User’s UNIX login scripts (.cshrc, .profile, etc.) cannot contain any
commandsthat writetostdout (forexample,
echo).The rshprocessattempts
to pass stdout output to MSC.Patran. This extra data is treated as a set of
invalid option entries, and the process will fail.
Testing the Connection. Once the remote service has been set up, you can test the
connection between the NT client and the UNIX server as follows. These steps
approximate those taken by MSC.Patran on Windows NT when submitting a remote
analysis.
1. Remote copy a file from DOS to UNIX. Create a text file (e.g. test.txt) in a
Windows NT scratch directory. Go to that directory from a DOS Command
Prompt and enter the following command:
rcp test.txt
hostname
:/tmp
Replace
hostname
with the Host and /tmp with the scratchdir entries from
the
p3_trans.ini file.
2. Use rsh to call the analysis executable. From a DOS command prompt, use
rsh to call the executable defined in the p3trans.ini file as Acommand.
rsh
hostname
:/msc/msc70/irix/nastran
Thisshouldreturnanerror fromthe applicationsince youhavenotsupplied
an input file, but since you are checking only that the application can be
contacted this does not affect the test.
3. Use rcp from a DOS Command Prompt to copy a file back from UNIX to
DOS.
rcp
hostname
:/tmp/test.txt .
MSC.Patran Pro/ENGINEER Access Setup
The MSC.Patran Pro/ENGINEER Access module imports Pro/ENGINEER part files
by actually running Pro/ENGINEER in the background, and executing a
Pro/Develop program. For this reason, any MSC.Patran workstation that will access
Pro/ENGINEER part files must be able to execute Pro/ENGINEER (i.e. the software
must be executable and have valid licenses).
MSC.PatranPro/ENGINEERAccessdeterminesthelocationofPro/ENGINEERwith
the MSCP_PROE_CMD environment variable. For example,
set MSCP_PROE_CMD=d:\proe\bin\proe2000i.bat
