6 Check your system for an existing MSDL card that can be used for
STA. Having an MSDL card with several free ports would allow you
optimum use of the STA feature. Verify that the switch settings of the
MSDL card number (DNUM) do not conflict with other I/O devices and
that all DIP switch settings are set correctly for RS-232. Refer to the
Circuit Card Installation and Testing Guide
(NTP 553-3001-211) for
information on MSDL switch settings.
7 Set up a VT220 or 100%-compatible terminal for STA. The set-up
parameters vary depending on terminal type. Refer to the
X11 System
Management Applications Guide
(NTP 553-3001-301) for the correct
set-up parameters for your terminal.
8 Connect an NTND27 cable to Port 0 on the MSDL card. Use a 25-pin
straight-through cable to connect the NTND27 cable to the VT220 used
for the STA administration terminal.
9 To create a link between the STA administration terminal and Meridian
MAX, connect an NTND27 cable to one of the other selected ports on
the same MSDL card.
For a Meridian MAX SNN/SNN-E or SEE, connect a null modem
adapter between this cable and the NT7D61Ax cable which runs to the
Meridian MAX AM’s I/O panel (J7 on the I/O subpanel or SYS CONS on
the Universal or Generic I/O panel).
For a Meridian MAX IPE/IPE-E, connect a null modem adapter between
this cable and the NT1R03Dx or NT7D58Ax cable which runs to Port 1
on the Meridian MAX IPE/IPE-E.
