Procedure 7-1
To install a local printer
1 Decide which printer you want to use as your local printer.
2 Decide if you want to connect the printer to the PC through a serial
RS-232 connection or through a parallel connection.
For a serial connection you need either a DB-9 female to DB-25 male
cable, or a DB-25 female to DB-25 male cable.
For a parallel connection, you need a DB-25 female to Centronics cable
(also known as a PC parallel printer cable).
3 Configure your printer based on the individual configuration procedures.
Refer to the subsection on your selected printer in the “Printers”
chapter.
If you are running MTE 5.32 or lower, use Procedure 7-2 to set up local
printing.
If you are running MTE 8, refer to the MTE 8 User Guide (P0853413) for
information on setting up a local printer with MTE 8.
Procedure 7-2
To set up local printing with MTE 5.32 or lower
1 Install and start the MTE software.
Refer to the “Workstations” chapter, “Meridian Terminal Emulator”
section, “Meridian Terminal Emulator (MTE) 5.32 or lower” subsection,
for the software installation procedure for MTE 5.32 or lower.
2 Notify MTE that a local printer is being used by pressing both left and
right {SHIFT} keys simultaneously. This displays the terminal set-up
