Compliance with C DRH regulations
The Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH ) of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration
implemented regulations for laser products on August 2, 1976. These regulations app ly to laser products
manufactured from August 1, 1976. Compliance is mandatory for products marketed in the United States.
Certification and classification information
This product contains a laser internal to the Optical Link Module (OLM) for connection to the Fibre
communications port.
In the USA, the OLM is certified as a Class 1 laser product conforming to the requirements contained in
the Department of Health and H uman Services (DHHS) regulation 21 CFR, Subchapter J. The certification
is indicated by a label on the plastic OLM housing.
Outside the USA, the OLM is cer tified as a Class 1 laser product conforming to the requirements
contained in IEC 825-1:199 3 and EN 60825-1:1994, including Amendment 11:1996.
The OLM includes the following certifications:
• UL Recognized Component (USA)
• CSA Certified Component (Canada)
• TUV Cer ti fie d Component (European Union)
• CB Certificate (Worldwide)
