ogging on to the XP Remote Web Console™
IMPORTANT:
Because the default user ID has default administrator-level access, one of the first tasks for the XP Remote
Web Console administrator should be to change the password. If you are logging on to XP Remote Web
Console for the first time, use the default user ID (administrator) and password (administrator) to log
on as an adminis
trator, and then change the password. All user IDs and passwords are case-sensitive.
If the adminis
trator password is lost or forgotten, contact your HP account support representative to
regain acces
s to the restricted functions.
All XP Remote Web Console (web client) users are required to log on to the XP Remote Web
Console SVP (web server) with a valid user ID and password before executing the XP Remote
Web Console Java™ applet program. To register XP Remote Web Console user accounts, you
need the user account for which the Account Administrator role is set to Modify mode (see
“Setting User Accounts (Account Pane)” on page 86.

Maximum number of concurrent users
The arrays can support up to 32 concurrent users.
The exceptions are displaying the XP Auto LUN pane
and executing the Export Tool; in these instances, the
limit is two concurrent users.
Logging on to multiple SVPs (web servers) The same user can concurrently log on to more than
one SVP (web server) by opening an individual
storagedevicelistfor each SVP, downloadingthe
web client Java™ applet program from each SVP,
and executing the Java™ applets on separate web
browser windows.
NOTE:
If you execute multiple web client Java™ applet
programs for multiple SVPs, insufficient memory
may degrade performance.
Logging on to thesameSVPs(webserver) more than
once concurrently
Thesameuser(ID)may nothavemultipleconcurrent
sessions with the same SVPs (web server).
Security measure
If you have failed to log on three times with the same
user ID, XP Remote Web Console stops replying for
one minute. This is not a system failure.
Logon history
All logon information, including user ID, logon and
logoff time, is recorded in the audit log information
file so that unauthorized access can be detected.
Automatic logoff operation In case a user cannot normally log off, you can set
theusertobeautomatically loggedoff from theSVP
after a specifictimeperiod. This time period can be
specified by the storage administrator with the Enable
authority of Storage Administrator Role.
RestrictiononAccessingLocal Client Files
Java™ applets have a security feature that prohibits a user from accessing local client files for operations
within the Java™ applet sandbox. However, this security restriction can be lifted to provide access to
local files from XP Remote Web Console because the XP Remote Web Console Java™ applet has an
electronic signature. Figure 14 illustrates Java™ applet security.
