Viewing configuration guidelines

Management Infrastructure configuration guidelines appear in the:

• Management Infrastructure configuration online help

• Management Infrastructure administrator guide

Also, the user interface includes proactive assistance for most fields. For example, in the Discovery

Interval, you can delete the displayed value, type an x, then mouse-over the warning icon to see the

guideline.

Viewing the configuration for a machine

1. Log in to the Management Infrastructure configuration interface for the machine.

2. On the Configuration page, view the configuration settings. Example: “Configuration interface

– details page quick tour” on page 45.

3. On the Registry page, view the Management Infrastructure registry entries. Example: “Configuration

interface – registry page quick tour” on page 46.

Configuration settings

Configuration settings overview

In most cases the default settings are adequate and should not be changed. Guidelines for settings

are included in the online help, documentation, and in the interface. See “Viewing configuration

guidelines” on page 61.

Considerations

The following considerations are common to all settings:

• All Management Infrastructure web service port numbers must be unique, with the exception of

the Discovery URI port.

• The value 0 (zero) in a port number field indicates that Management Infrastructure can automatically

assign the port number. There can be multiple ports that show the value of 0.
