Paircreate(ESAM) dialog box

This dialog box lets you create an ESAM pair.

These parameters cannot be changed after a pair has been created. If you want to change the

parameter, release the pair by the Pairsplit-S operation, and then re-create the pair by the

Paircreate(ESAM) operation.

Displays the port number, host group number (GID), LUN(LDKC number: CU number: LDEV number),

CLPR number, and CLPR name of the selected LU. P-VOL displays the P-VOL with the lowest LUN

P-VOL

when you create multiple pairs at a time. The following symbols might appear at the end of the

LDEV number:

• # (e.g., 00:00:3C #): Indicates the volume is an external volume. For details on external

volumes, see HP P9000 External Storage for Open and Mainframe Systems User Guide.

• X (e.g., 00:00:3C X): Indicates the volume is a Thin Provisioning virtual volume. For details on

virtual volumes, see HP P9000 Provisioning for Open Systems User Guide.

Select the S-VOL(s) for the new pair(s). You can select the port number from the list, or enter it

directly. When you enter the port number directly, you can specify it with two characters, for

S-VOL

example, 1A as CL1 A. You can also enter the port number in both lowercase and uppercase

characters.

When creating multiple pairs at a time, select the S-VOL for the P-VOL being displayed in P-VOL.

The S-VOLs for the rest of the P-VOLs are automatically assigned according to the LUN. For example,

if you select three P-VOLs and select LUN001 as the S-VOL for the first P-VOL, the S-VOLs for the

two other P-VOLs will be LUN002 and LUN003. Make sure that the S-VOLs to be assigned

automatically are available. If an S-VOL is not available, you will have to select the S-VOL

individually.

Select the RCU for the ESAM pair(s) being created. The list displays the information about RCUs

which have been added to CU Free, such as the serial number, LDKC number, controller ID, model

RCU

name, path group ID, and the channel type. The RCU will be the same for all pairs being created

during one operation.

The fence level determines the conditions under which the MCU will reject write operations to the

P-VOL. Never is automatically set and the P-VOL will never be fenced.
