4. On the secondary system, create a Continuous Access Synchronous pair. The data flow is
from secondary to primary sites.
To do this, specify the ESAM S-VOL as a Continuous Access Synchronous P-VOL.
5. Do one of the following:
- If using RAID Manager: When the copy operation is completed, execute the horctakeover
command on the Continuous Access Synchronous S-VOL. This reverses the Continuous Access
Synchronous P-VOL and S-VOL.
- If using Remote Web Console: On the secondary system, release the Continuous Access
Synchronous pair
1. On the primary system, split the Continuous Access Synchronous pair.
2. On the primary system, perform the Pairresync operation to change the Continuous Access
Synchronous pair to an ESAM pair.
6. Using multipath software, vary the host-to-P-VOL path online.
7. On the primary and secondary systems, add the quorum disks.
8. Do one of the following:
- If using RAID Manager: On the primary system, split the Continuous Access Synchronous
pair using the Pairsplit-r operation on the P-VOL. Then perform the Pairresync operation to
change the Continuous Access Synchronous pair to an ESAM pair.
- If using Remote Web Console: On the primary system, create the ESAM pair.
9. On the primary and secondary systems, make sure the volume type is ESAM.
Powering the system off and on
This section provides instructions for powering off/on the primary and secondary systems and the
quorum disk.
Planned outage of quorum disk
The procedure for a planned outage of the quorum disk differs depending on whether the primary
or secondary system accepts updates from the host.
Procedure 24 To power off/on the quorum disk when the P-VOL is receiving updates:
1. Using multipath software, vary the non-owner path offline.
2. On the primary system, split the pair.
3. On the primary system, make sure the P-VOL is PSUS.
4. On the primary system, perform the Disconnect External Volumes command on the quorum
disk.
5. On the secondary system, perform the Disconnect External Volumes command on the quorum
disk.
6. Power off the quorum disk.
7. Power on the quorum disk.
8. On the secondary system, perform the Reconnect External Volumes command on the quorum
disk.
9. On the primary system, perform the Reconnect External Volumes command on the quorum
disk.
10. On the primary system, resynchronize the pair.
11. On the primary system, make sure the P-VOL status is PAIR.
12. Using multipath software, vary the non-owner path online.
Procedure 25 To power off/on when the S-VOL is receiving updates:
1. On the secondary storage system, split the pair.
2. On the secondary system, make sure the P-VOL is in PSUS status.
