5. Disconnect two cables (1). (The formatter cage removal for the HP Color LaserJet
3500/3550 and 3700 series printers is slightly different. (Refer to the figure below, either
HP 3500/3550 or the HP 3700 for the specific printer formatter cage being removed.)
6. Remove four screws (2) from the side of the cage.

7. Remove the screws from the back of the formatter cage (the HP 3500/3550 is shown for
both the HP 3500/3550 and HP 3700); remove two screws (1) for the HP 3500/3550;
remove three screws, (1) and (2), for the HP 3700).
