Direct Backup Engine Components

Direct Backup Engine operations involve the following components:

• Open-system host server

• HP Surestore Disk Array XP and volumes (LUs)

• Backup devices (tape devices and/or Disks)

• Port groups (target ports and initiator ports)

• Fibre-channel cable connections

• XP Remote Console PC

• LUN Manager remote console software

• Direct Backup Engine remote console option (license key)

• Fibre-channel package for initiator ports

Figure 2 shows the Direct Backup Engine components and their functions:
