The sfsmgr utility2–4
You must enter enough letters to make the abbreviated command unique; if you do not, the command will
not work (the usage for the command will be displayed). For example, in the show commands, you cannot
abbreviate the word show to sh, as this could be confused with the shutdown command; you can,
however, abbreviate it to sho. Similarly, you can abbreviate the show lun and the show log commands
to sho lu and sho lo.
2.3.1 Running sfsmgr commands at the command line
You can run many of the sfsmgr commands at the command line, as shown in the following example. This
method of entering the commands allows you to pipe the output to less or more so that the output does
not scroll off the screen. This is useful where the output of the command is expected to be lengthy; for
example, when running the show server server_name and the show lun lun_number commands:
# sfsmgr show server south1|less
HP does not recommend running active commands such as the configure server and the configure
system commands at the command line. Commands that are suitable for running at the command line
include the show commands.
NOTE: The show log command does not run successfully at the command line if the query contains a <
(less than) or a > (greater than) operator or contains double quotes. This is because the shell interprets
these characters as instructions rather than operators and modifiers.
2.4 Troubleshooting the sfsmgr command
Use the information in this section to identify potential problems with the sfsmgr command:
If the following message is displayed when you enter the sfsmgr command, and the command
terminates immediately, this indicates that the administration service is not running:
# sfsmgr
.
.
.
The database server is not yet ready
If the administration server has just been booted, the administration service (which is responsible for
starting the database server) may not be ready when you first enter the sfsmgr command.
If this is the case, the message shown in the following example is displayed:
# sfsmgr
.
.
.
The database server is not yet ready, do you want to proceed? [n]:
Press the Return key to accept the default; the sfsmgr command then terminates. Wait for 10
seconds, then enter the sfsmgr command again. Continue trying at 10 second intervals until the
command is successful.
If the sfsmgr command continues to fail, check whether the mysqld daemon is running, by entering
the following command on the administration server:
# clustat
Cluster Status Monitor (SFS Cluster Manager) 10:49:57
Cluster alias: Not Configured
