Changing the system parameters7–10
If both the administration and the MDS servers are affected, enter the configure server
command for each server, as shown in the following example, where south1 is the administration
server, and south2 is the MDS server:
sfs> configure server south1
sfs> configure server south2
If all servers are affected, enter the configure server command for the servers in the order
shown in the following example, where south1 is the administration server, south2 is the MDS
server, and south3 and south4 are the Object Storage Servers:
sfs> configure server south1
sfs> configure server south2
sfs> configure server south[3-4]
7.4 Adding, changing, or removing the Alias IP on a Gigabit Ethernet
network
In most HP SFS systems, an alias IP address is only configured on one network, but it is possible to configure
an alias on each Gigabit Ethernet network.
The alias IP address is an alias to the first server in the HP SFS system, but will route to the second server if
the first server is unavailable. Client nodes may use the alias IP address to retrieve file systems configuration
data from the LDAP database when they are mounting file systems.
To add, change, or remove an alias IP on a Gigabit Ethernet network, perform the following steps:
1. Log in to the administration server.
2. Run the configure system command as described in Section 7.2 and add, change or remove the
alias IP address on the network as required.
3. Reconfigure all servers, as shown in the following example:
sfs> configure server south[1-4]
4. Verify that the alias IP address has been updated, as shown in the following example. In this example,
eth1 is the interface on the network where the alias IP address was updated:
# ifconfig
.
.
.
eth1:0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0B:CD:DB:C3:BC
inet addr:16.123.123.110 Bcast:16.123.123.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
Interrupt:15
You do not need to unmount file systems for the change to take effect. Client nodes currently connected to
the file systems are unaffected. However, any client nodes that are mounting file systems after the change
has been made cannot use the old alias IP address to access the file system configuration data.
7.5 Changing the IP address of an individual server
You can change the IP address on a Gigabit Ethernet or InfiniBand network for an individual server as
follows:
1. Enter the show network command to determine which networks are on the system, as shown in the
following example. In this example, the nic2 network is the Gigabit Ethernet Interconnect:
sfs> show network
Name Device Role
---- ------ ----
elan0 n/a interconnect
mp0 n/a console
nic1 eth0 management
nic2 eth1 interconnect
