Do not run the pairresync -restore command on a pair while a pairsplit operation is
being performed on a related pair (a pair that shares the same P-VOL). Running this command
can abnormally end the pairsplit operation.
SS does not support Quick Split mode.
For more information about the requirements for consistency group operations, see “Consistency
group system requirements” (page 11).
To split a pair, from a command prompt, run the RAID Manager pairsplit command. For more
information about this command, see the HP XP P9000 RAID Manager Installation and Configuration
User Guide.
To split pairs in a consistency group, from a command prompt, run the RAID Manager pairsplit
command on the consistency group that is a target of the At-Time Split operation.
When the pairsplit completes, the pair status changes to “PSUS”.
Resynchronizing pairs
Resynchronizing pairs deletes the SS data in the data pool and transforms the V-VOL as a mirror
of the current data in the P-VOL. Resynchronizing a pair increases the capacity in the data pool.
Prerequisite information
The pair status must be “PSUS”.
If a related pair is using the SS data in the data pool, then only the SS ID is deleted for the
resynchronized pair; the data is not deleted from the pool.
To resynchronize a pair, use the RAID Manager pairresync command. The pair status changes
to “PAIR”.
For more information about this command, see the HP XP P9000 RAID Manager Installation and
Configuration User Guide.
Restoring pairs
When you restore a pair, the SS data in the data pool is copied back to the P-VOL. This restores
P-VOL data to the point when the pair was split.
Prerequisite information
The pair must be in “PSUS” status.
SS does not support the Quick Restore operation.
To restore a pair, from a command prompt, run the RAID Manager pairresync -restore
command. The pair status changes to “PAIR”.
Deleting pairs
Deleting pairs ends the relationship between the P-VOL and V-VOL. SS data for the pair is deleted
from the pool.
Prerequisite information
The pair must be in “PAIR”, “PSUS”, or “PSUE” status.
It can take several seconds to ten minutes for the pair to delete. If you are using a large area
of the pool for SS data or if you are deleting more than one pair, it can take ten minutes for
the pair to delete.
Deleting a single pair
To delete a single pair, use the RAID Manager pairsplit -S command.
Deleting multiple pairs related to a port or host group
Use RWC to delete multiple pairs from a port or host group.
1. In RWC, click Actions > Local Replications > BC/SS > Pair Operation.
