NOTE: Use the system configuration labels on the inside of the access panel to locate
system components and settings.
After installing hardware options for your ProLiant ML370 Generation 2 rack
server, replace the access panel. Ensure that the panel is locked into place
securely before powering up the server.
Installing Hardware Options
This chapter includes step-by-step instructions for installing:
■ Processors and PPMs
G Installing a second processor with heatsink
G Installing a second PPM
■ Memory
■ Hot-plug SCSI hard drives
■ Removable media devices
G Installing a non-hot-plug hard drive
G Installing a half-height tape drive
G Installing a full-height tape drive
■ Redundant hot-plug fans
G Installing the redundant hot-plug fan cage
G Installing hot-plug fans
■ Redundant hot-plug power supply
■ Expansion boards
G Installing a non-hot-plug expansion board
G Installing a PCI Hot Plug expansion board
To install hot-plug expansion boards, you must install an operating
system and use the PCI Hot Plug functionality provided by the
ProLiant ML370 Generation 2 server. See Chapter 9 “Server
Configuration and Utilities,” for installing an operating system with
PCI Hot Plug capability, and see Chapter 10,
“PCI Hot Plug Technology,” for PCI Hot Plug installation procedures.
