4 Managing Fast Snap Pairs
This chapter provides instructions for completing FS pair user tasks using the RWC.
Fast Snap pair tasks
You can perform the following tasks on FS pairs:
• Check FS pair status.
For more information about checking FS pair status, see “Checking Fast Snap pair status”
(page 61).
• Create FS pairs.
For more information, see:
◦ “Workflow for creating and managing Fast Snap pairs” (page 62).
◦ “Workflow for creating Fast Snap pairs using Remote Web Console” (page 62).
◦ “Creating Fast Snap pairs and defining them in snapshot or consistency groups using the
RAID Manager” (page 63).
• Split pairs to store snapshot data.
For more information, see:
◦ “Splitting Fast Snap pairs to store snapshot data” (page 73).
◦ “Splitting Fast Snap pairs to store snapshot data using the RAID Manager” (page 75).
◦ “Workflow for splitting Fast Snap pairs in consistency groups” (page 75).
◦ (If you are sharing FS P-VOLs with Cnt Ac-J or Cnt Ac-S S-VOLs) “Workflow for consistency
group pair-split with shared volumes” (page 76).
• If the FS pair is defined in a consistency group, change the FS pair status.
For more information about changing pair status, see “Workflow for defining pairs to
consistency groups when the host is down” (page 72).
• “Restoring Fast Snap pairs” (page 79).
• If the storage system suspends the FS pair (“PSUE status) while you are restoring the pair,
restore the suspended FS pair (see “Workflow for restoring suspended Fast Snap pairs”
(page 81)).
• “Resynchronizing Fast Snap pairs” (page 83).
• “Releasing Fast Snap pairs” (page 87).
• “Deleting Fast Snap pairs” (page 85).
Checking Fast Snap pair status
Each FS pair task requires a pair to have a specific status. Check the pairs’ status before performing
a pair task and to ensure that the task completes successfully and to ensure the data is current.
