Interoperability with Other Products and Functions
XP Snapshot ca
n create pairs by sharing volumes with other program products, such as Business Copy or
Continuous Access. In addition, you can create XP Snapshot pairs by using volumes to which attributes
are assigned by HP StorageWorks XP Data Retention Utility or RAID Manager. The following table shows
whether or not XP Snapshot pairs can share volumes with other program products.

Forexample, ifthe MU number of theBusinessCopypairis0,you cannot create an XP Snapshotpair
whose MU number is 0 and whose P-VOL is also used as a Business Copy P-VOL. Also, if the MU number
of the XP
Snapshot pair is 1, you cannot create a Business Copy pair whose MU number is 1 and
whose P-VOL is also used as an XP Snapshot P-VOL.
Notes:
• You nee
d Data Retention Utility to set the Read Only attribute, the Protect attribute, or S-VOL
Disable. For details, see the HP StorageWorks XP24000 Data Retention Utility User’s Guide.
• You need RAID Manager to set the Zero Read Capacity attribute or the Invisible attribute. For

s, see theHP StorageWorks XP RAID Manager User’s Guide.
• You can check if the volume has the Read Only attribute, the Protect attribute, S-VOL Disable, the
Zero Read Capacity attribute, or the Invisible attribute by seeing the window of Data Retention
Utili

When XP Snapshot shares volumes with the program products shown in Table 4 on page 18,
some operations are restricted according to the pair statuses. For detailed information, see
“Data Retention Utility” on page 19 through “HP StorageWorks XP Thin Provisioning Software” on page 23.
