15 Setting Volume Group Policies
For more information:Use this policy:To set volume groups to:

Set Remote Copy policies on the primary volume group. The command and policy setting is
automatically mirrored to the secondary volume group.
SolutionProblem
Ensure links are up on both systems and try the command
again. For more information, see “Checking the Links
between Systems” (page 70).
If the mirror system does not respond to a command after
5 minutes (the timeout limit), an error message appears:
target system <sys_name> could not be
contacted
Automatically Restarting Volume Groups
By default, Remote Copy volume groups do not restart automatically.
• To allow automatic restarts after all links between a Remote Copy pair fail and are
re-established, set the volume groups to the auto_recover policy. Enter either:
# setrcopygroup pol auto_recover <group_name>
or:
# setrcopygroup pol auto_recover -pat <pattern>
◦ <pattern> - Pattern of volume group names (for example, Group*)
If the volume groups stop as a result of a link failure, they automatically restart.
If the volume groups stop for any other reason (for example, I/O errors occur and the system
stops the volume groups), you must use the startrcopygroup command to manually restart
the volume groups.
• To return the volume groups to the default policy and prevent volume groups from automatically
restarting, set the volume groups to the no_auto_recover policy.
# setrcopygroup pol no_auto_recover <group_name>
or:
# setrcopygroup pol no_auto_recover -pat <pattern>
