Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps:

1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the

computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.

3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet

and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

4. Remove the battery (see

Battery on page 51).

5. Remove the primary hard drive cover (see

Primary hard drive cover on page 52).

Remove the hard drive:

Remove the four Phillips PM2.5×3.0 screws (1).

Disconnect the hard drive by sliding it to the left (2), and then remove the hard drive (3) from the

computer.

If it is necessary to replace the hard drive bracket or any of the hard drive bracket components,

remove the following:

●

(1) Hard drive adapter cable

●

(2) Four rubber isolators

●

(3) Four Phillips PM3.0×3.5 screws that secure the hard drive bracket rails and Mylar cover

to the hard drive

●

(4) Left and right hard drive bracket rails with Mylar cover
