3-2 Installing Altiris Deployment Solution

To install Altiris Deployment Solution, perform the following steps:

1. The zip file saved in step 3 of the previous section contains a Windows executable file (.exe) and a license

file (.lic)—see Figure 3-4. To begin the installation of Altiris Deployment Solution, extract and run the

executable file.

2. During the installation process, you’ll be prompted for which preboot environment to use. Select Linux and,

when prompted, specify the path to the .frm file saved in step 4-c of the previous section.

Started Guide available at http://www.altiris.com/upload/altiris_hpthinclients_gettingstarted.pdf

NOTE: HP blade workstation clients are automatically recognized as license exempt when they first

communicate with Altiris Deployment Solution. No license key needs to be activated in the Deployment Solution

console to manage these clients.
