An EAN-13 bar code can be augmented with a two-digit add-on code to form a new one. In the example below, the part

surrounded by blue dotted line is an EAN-13 bar code while the part circled by red dotted line is a two-digit add-on code.

presented with an EAN-13 plus 2-digit add-on bar code. It can also decode EAN-13 bar codes without

Enable 2-Digit Add-On Code: The scanner decodes a mix of EAN-13 bar codes with and without 2-digit

add-on codes.
